After a 10-mile run this morning, my body was begging for the gloopy stuff and I had to run an extra few hundred metres to a shop that stocked oats to satisfy my craving.
Inside the shop, I got talking to a couple of customers. One man asked me whether I ate porridge with salt. Screwing my face up in disgust, I explained that my preferred way of eating porridge was hot with honey, bananas and raisins. He told me about a hotel in Scotland that served porridge with brown sugar and Drambuie in a kind of crème brulée style – an interesting idea. Another man recounted an anecdote about his 99-year-old father who, still alive and kicking, swears by porridge and whiskey for breakfast every day.
Whether you like yours hot or cold, with milk or water or both, sweetened with sugar or served as a savoury dish with salt, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, we want to hear about it! Let us know how you eat your porridge and be in with a chance to win a runnyknows t-shirt!
The winner will be announced next Sunday 14th July!
