Since retiring from athletics in 1997, British Olympic Champion, Sally Gunnell, runs just for herself – to escape for some ‘me-time’. She goes out three times a week to run for an hour on the Sussex Downs. It helps her deal with the everyday stresses of being a busy mum and gives her a chance to focus on her needs as well as escape, think and reflect, so that she is more able to cope with whatever life throws at her. Sometimes she runs alone and other times she runs with other mums of all shapes, sizes and abilities to natter and put the world to rights. Either way, she gets home feeling energized and a better, happier, calmer person.
I am definitely with you, Sally!
