![]() I took part in the 261 Women's Marathon in Palma this morning and battled the rain and cold (Yes! In Mallorca!) for 42kms, finishing in 3h34m, 7th woman overall. Thanks to our Miguel and George for accompanying me along parts of the route. It was 3 laps, so the company was much-appreciated. I had secretly wanted to do a sub 3h30m and it looked probable until km 27 when I slowed right down and couldn't pick up the speed again. Next time! Preferably in the sunshine! Well done to Miguel who completed the full 42kms in 3h39m. The highlight of the race was, without doubt, meeting Kathrine Switzer. Here she is greeting me at the finish line. A very special photo.

![]() We spent a brilliant morning in Palma pacing for the Half Marathon with our lovely Shelley. Running with the 1h45 banner, Miguel and I finished in 1h44m59secs and led a great group. Shelley was just behind us, finishing in 1h46m43secs, which is fantastic as it was pretty windy by the sea and not an easy run. Shelley came 3rd in her category (Well done, Shelley!), whilst even pacing, Miguel came 1st in his and I also got 3rd place in mine! Very satisfying all round and we enjoyed a delicious beer afterwards by the cathedral. Thank you, Mark! ![]() We enjoyed a 17k off-road run from Pollensa to Lluc this morning with the unstoppable Shelley. Not only is she competing in the Palma Half Marathon this weekend, she is doing both the Brighton and London marathons next month and the London to Brighton Ultra Marathon, which is a mere 100kms!!!, in May. Oh, and she has a full-time job, leads a running group and is doing an Open University degree! What an amazing lady! ![]() Runnyknows took part in the Magaluf Half Marathon this morning. Johanna and Miguel finished in 1h38m, Miguel finishing 1st (as always!) in the M-65 category and Johanna finishing 9th woman overall and 4th in the F-40 category. Best of all, the atmosphere was great, the weather conditions perfect and we had a great time. Hope you all enjoyed your Sunday runs today too. ![]() Miquel Capó from Sa Pobla, Mallorca, broke the world record for the most number of kms run on a treadmill in 24 hours today. 248! And all for a good cause: to raise funds for those suffering with Multiple Sclerosis. We are very proud of this amazing fellow athlete and incredible man. Well done, Miquel! You are an inspiration. |
