JOHANNA: My name's Jo MacDonald. I'm an English teacher, writer, mother and last, but by no means least, I'm a passionate runner. I've been running for well over fifteen years now, almost as long as I've been in Mallorca, and fail to comprehend how I survived without it before then. Running has benefitted my life in so many ways and I feel extremely privileged to live on an island with such fantastic and varied running routes. As well as the mild climate, I have beach, mountain, countryside and road on my doorstep. Running has boomed in the Balearics over recent years and there are now many fun runs and half marathons, plus two or three full marathons held here each year. I'm a long distance runner and have completed eight full marathons and numerous half marathons and fun runs of varying distances. My PB time for a full marathon is 3h25 and for a half, 1h33. However, I'm not obsessed with times and a long leisurely training run gives me as much, if not more, satisfaction as a fast race. I have carried out a Leadership in Running Fitness course with England Athletics and have successfully completed a sports injuries course and a British Cross first aid course. I get so much out of running in Mallorca and I want to share my knowledge and experiences, hence Runnyknows.
